LIVE MUSIC IS SMOKIN' AT THE OAK INN.

Every other Monday night the Oak Inn in Walsall is the place to be if an open mic night tickles your fancy. And that's where Prodigal Sun Radio rocked up last Monday night itching to hear what some of the town's musicians had to offer. There was no short supply of talent on show, and with the blessings of Adam the gaffer, PSR managed to get a few decent pics. The lack of live music venues in Walsall is a crying shame considering the abundance of talented musos that reside in or near to the town. There was a time that you could hit the town centre and enjoy live music at Rock Steady Eddies, leave there and cross Stafford Street to checkout which band was gigging in the pub across the road (the name of which has been lost in time) before finally landing at the Wharf Bar just in time to catch the tail-end of a rock band set. Then there were those big gigs at Walsall College, usually organised by the Student's Union. Practically everyone you knew would be there. Where have those days gone? Thank the stars for the Oak Inn where, as well as some fine individual performances the audience was treated to a sizzling bluesy jam session the likes of which has never been witnessed before, and will likely never be witnessed again by man nor beast.
